Umred Pauni Karhandla Wildlife Sanctuary

The Umred-Pauni-Karhandla Wildlife Sanctuary (UPKWS) spans across Pauni Tahsil in Bhandara district and the Umred, Kuhi, and Bhiwapur Talukas of Nagpur district — nestled beautifully along the Wainganga River.

Situated approximately 50 km from Nagpur and 60 km from Bhandara, this pristine habitat is intricately connected to the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve. It lies just 40 km north of Tadoba-Andhari and 50 km southwest of Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary.

The sanctuary hosts breeding tigers, herds of Gaur, wild dogs, flying squirrels, pangolins, honey badgers, and an extraordinary diversity of bird species — making it one of Maharashtra's most significant conservation treasures.
